KINDNESS OFFERS INDEPENDENCE
Welcome
Koi and Friends is a not for profit organization that was started in 2016 in memory of Janet Duske-White who lost her life as a result of domestic violence. Our mission is to increase awareness of domestic violence and help bring support to the victims of abuse.
Koi and Friends works with our community to help bring awareness to this issue and also support domestic violence victims and their families in local shelters. We support our centers throughout the entire year through multiple programs.
These programs include:
· Janet's Stockings, Back to School, Snack Packs, Holiday Helpers, Adopt a Stocking, Adopt A Family, Birthday Boxes, Womens care kits and Children care kits
This is made possible by donations, volunteer hours, company sponsorships and fundraisers throughout the year.
The smallest items that we take for granted everyday are items that these victims need most. Survivors of Domestic Violence and their children flee their homes - often in the middle of the night - with nothing more than a few belongings. They need a safe place to find refuge and then permanent housing where they can raise their children free from violence. More than 90% of homeless women have experienced severe physical or sexual violence, and more than half of homeless women report that domestic violence was the immediate cause of their homelessness.
I am no bird; and no net ensnares me; I am a free
human being with an independent will.
